Online Testing: Important Information for Students

Please get to know George Brown’s online testing policies, below, before your first online test.

  • Cell phones, blackberries, and other personal communications devices may not be used in the test lab.

  • Headphones, ipods, mp3 players, and radios may not be used in the lab.

  • Electronic dictionaries may not be used in the lab.

  • Personal laptop computers may not be opened or used in the lab.

  • You must show photo ID to begin your test, and leave the ID displayed for the duration of your test.

  • Food and drink are not allowed in the lab.

  • When your test is complete, please leave the test lab right away. You may not browse the internet or wait for a friend who is still taking a test.

  • Should you encounter a technical problem which you believe has affected your ability to complete the exam, please contact the proctor and ensure that the details are documented in an incident report.

  • Only one browser window may be open while you do your exam and it must be the one you are using to do your test. Having another browser window open (unless it is a requirement of the test and has been authorized by the professor and confirmed by the proctor) will be considered a breach of the College’s Academic Policies, Guidelines & Codes of Conduct.

  • Avoid bringing personal items such as coats, computers, or bags to the testlab; consider leaving your purse/wallet and other personal items in your locker if you do not wish to leave these in the test room storage area. The College is not responsible for items lost or stolen from the testlab.

The College’s Academic Policies, Guidelines & Codes of Conduct do apply to online testing. The following Offences Warrant Disciplinary Action:

  • The use or possession of an unauthorized aid or aids or use of unauthorized assistance in any academic examination or term test or in connection with any other form of academic work (e.g. cheating during a test or an examination or theft of an examination).

The impersonation of, or the act of having another person impersonate, another student at any academic examination or term test or in connection with any other form of academic work.
